By 1974 GMC's New Look design was becoming prominent throughout American cities. While the design was very standardized and kept the same for decades, Fishbowls were anything but one-size-fits-all! 3131, which traversed the urban streets of Los Angeles, was specced out for speed and endurance with a Detroit Diesel 8v71 power plant and several top tier options which make the bus particularly unique inside and out as well as under the floor.
The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority was replaced in 1964 by the Southern California Regional Transit District. The RTD served the LA area from 1964 until 1993 when it was replaced by the LA County MTA, which serves the area today.
