Produced from 1989 to 2009, the Orion V was Orion Bus Industries' most popular model. The success of the Orion V design is proven by its continued production well after low floor alternatives became available. Orion Vs were ultimately replaced by low floor variant Orion VI, and more successfully by the updated Orion VII, which remains in service in major systems in New York City and New Jersey to this day. 677 is equipped with a Cummins ISL diesel engine and an Allison transmission.
The bee line system is a bus network owned by Westchester County of New York. It was officially so named in 1987 to form an identity for the consolidation of numerous private companies which the County took over in 1978. The system is operated by Liberty Lines Transit, inc. and PTLA Enterprises. Our 677 was operated by Liberty Lines.
